A studio service
Your business plan, as a presentation.
A business plan document can run to 30 pages. The presentation version has to say the same thing in 15 slides, for a bank, an investor, a grant panel or a partner.

N° 01What to keep
What to keep
The problem and the market.
Your product or service.
How you make money.
Your team.
Financial summary and what you need.
N° 02What to cut
What to cut
Long market research, detailed operations and full financial tables. Keep them in the document or an appendix.
N° 03A slide structure
A slide structure
One slide per section above, plus a title, a summary slide at the start and the ask at the end.
N° 04In more detail
What to get right
01
Summary slide
State in a few lines what the business does, who it serves, where it stands today and what you are asking for. A reader who sees only this slide should know why you are there.
02
Market and customer slide
Describe the customer you serve first and how you reach them, and give the source for every market figure. Unsourced market figures weaken the slides around them.
03
Business model slide
Show what you sell, who pays, how you price and what it costs you to deliver. Use real figures where you have them.
04
Competition and plan slides
Name the alternatives customers use today and where you differ, then show the main milestones ahead. A plan that claims no competitors is rarely believed.
05
Financial summary and ask
Show the headline projections with the assumptions behind them, the amount you need and what it will be spent on. Put the full tables in an appendix.
N° 05What goes wrong
Common mistakes, and how to avoid them.
01
Pasting the document onto slides
Paragraphs copied from the plan cannot be read from a screen. Reduce each section to its conclusion and the one piece of evidence that supports it.
02
Projections without assumptions
A rising chart with no stated assumptions cannot be checked. Print the main assumptions beside the chart.
03
The same deck for a bank and an investor
A lender wants to see that the loan can be repaid, and an equity investor wants to see how the business could grow. Adjust the financial summary and the ask for the reader in front of you.
04
An unclear ask
Asking for support without an amount or a purpose gives the reader nothing to approve. State the amount, the form of funding you want and what it pays for.
N° 06Terms
The words, in plain English.
01
Executive summary
A short overview of the whole plan, placed at the start.
02
Cash flow forecast
A projection of the money coming into and going out of the business over a set period.
03
Use of funds
A breakdown of what the money you are asking for will be spent on.
04
Collateral
An asset a borrower pledges to a lender, which the lender can claim if the loan is not repaid.

N° 09Questions
The answers we give most often.
- Is this the same as a pitch deck?
- Close. A pitch deck is aimed at investors; a business plan presentation can also be for banks, grant bodies or partners.
- Can you design it from our business plan?
- Yes. Send the document; the Deck + Story package includes building the slides from it.
- Does a lender look for different things than an investor?
- Yes. A lender is mainly concerned with whether the business can repay, so cash flow and existing debts matter most to them. An investor is mainly concerned with how far the business can grow. Ask your adviser what your reader expects.
- Can you check or build our projections?
- No. Financial modelling and valuation are excluded from every package. We present the figures you supply as clear charts and tables.
- Where do the detailed tables go?
- In an appendix. The Raise Kit covers 25 to 40 slides including an appendix. A shorter deck keeps the detail in your plan document.
