Each illustration gives one vehicle the whole page, doing the job it is built for.

The story is written from your brief around a simple task. The vehicles help one after another, and the book ends with the job done.

Your child drives, rides or helps in each scene. They wear the same outfit throughout, so they are easy to spot.

The number of wheels, the bucket, the lights and the colour are drawn from reference for the real vehicle type.

The name can appear on a door, a sign or a number plate as well as in the text.

Common mistakes, and how to avoid them.

The wrong vehicle
A child who loves vehicles knows a digger from a bulldozer. We confirm each vehicle with a reference picture before drawing it.

A child who gets lost beside a big machine
A small figure next to a large vehicle can stop looking like your child. Hair, outfit and colours are kept the same in every scene, and you approve the likeness first.

Too many vehicles for the pages
The Short Gift Book has 10 illustrations including the cover and the Gift Book has 14. The vehicle list is chosen to fit.

The name spelled wrong
A gift with the wrong spelling cannot be given. The name is checked by you in the digital proof before the print file is made.

• Two or three clear photos of the child, with the face visible
• The name, spelled exactly as it should appear
• The vehicles, in order of preference
• Photos of any real vehicle the child knows
• Where the story happens: a farm, a building site, a street or a railway
• The child's age and a dedication line, if you want one

- Do you print the book?
- No. You receive print-ready files; we can recommend print-on-demand services.
- How long does it take?
- The Short Gift Book and Gift Book take two to three weeks from the photo and vehicle list.
- Can a real tractor or truck from our family be in the book?
- Yes. Send photos and we paint it from them. We leave out brand logos.
- How many vehicles fit in the book?
- One vehicle per scene reads best. The Short Gift Book has 10 illustrations including the cover, and the Gift Book has 14.
- Can a brother, sister or parent be drawn in too?
- The Short Gift Book and Gift Book include one person drawn from photos. For more people, the Family Keepsake covers up to six family members and pets.
