A studio service

Picture books that help children understand ADHD.

Authors, therapists and parents write stories to help children understand ADHD, in themselves or in a friend. We illustrate them with warm characters and calm, clear scenes that support the message without overwhelming the page.

Picture Book About ADHD, Illustrated

N° 01Calm pages

Calm pages

Clear compositions with room to breathe, so the illustrations support attention rather than compete for it.

N° 02Characters children like

Characters children like

A main character who is shown with kindness, never as a problem to be fixed.

N° 03Your message, your words

Your message, your words

You supply the text, ideally reviewed by a professional; we illustrate it faithfully.

N° 04How it is made

How a book like this comes together.

01

The child's point of view

The pictures show the day as the main character sees it, in places a child knows: the classroom, the breakfast table, bedtime.

02

Feelings shown in face and posture

How the character feels is shown in their face and body. We do not add symbols that label the child.

03

One moment per picture

Each illustration shows a single moment from the text, and the words sit close to it.

04

Grown-ups and friends in the scene

A teacher, parent or friend is drawn responding to the child, as your text describes. They are designed as characters within the limit of the package.

05

An ordinary good moment at the end

The last picture usually shows the child in a normal, happy moment. What it shows follows your text.

N° 05What goes wrong

Common mistakes, and how to avoid them.

01

A picture that makes a claim

An illustration can seem to show a diagnosis or a treatment that the text never mentions. We draw only what your approved text says. The content is checked by you or your specialist; we do not give clinical advice.

02

A character made of symptoms

A child drawn only in difficult moments becomes a list of behaviours. The character is shown with interests, friends and a home as well.

03

A picture metaphor that confuses

If the text uses an image such as a busy head, the drawing can be read too literally. We sketch it and you or your specialist check that it reads as intended.

04

Unkind faces in the background

Classmates drawn laughing or staring change the message of a page. Background reactions are shown in the sketch for you to review.

N° 06Your brief

What to send us to get started.

You do not need all of it. Send what you have and we will ask in writing for anything missing.

• The final text, checked by you or your specialist

• The age of the reader, and who will read the book with them

• A description of the main character and the other characters

• Scenes that must be shown, and anything that must not be

• The name of anyone who will review sketches with you

• Trim size and where you plan to print

N° 07Peek inside

Pages like these.

N° 09Questions

The answers we give most often.

Do you give advice about ADHD?
No. We are illustrators. The content should come from you and any professional you work with.
Can you add a page of tips for parents?
Yes, as a designed text page within the package.
Can my specialist review the sketches?
Yes. Share the sketches with anyone you choose and send their comments back through you, within the revision rounds of the package.
Will you change the wording if something reads badly?
No. Writing and editing are not included. We tell you if a picture and the text seem to disagree.
Which package suits this kind of book?
A full 32-page story fits the Picture Book package. A short book of up to 12 pages fits the Little Book.
